A new paradigm emerges

As Mark Twain said, “the reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

My crystal ball isn’t any more clairvoyant than
anyone else, but I do feel optimistic that private
business, the city and the University of Iowa will
find common ground to build a new culture
inclusive of our entire population.

A new paradigm of doing business and problem
solving will emerge that includes entertainment,
retail, creative thought, mentoring and incubation.
Investments will be made in Iowa City that will
provide a model for the state, region, nation and
globe as a powerful attractant for unlikely
alliances and brain trusts — from waste
management to nuclear physics, from painting to
neuro-surgery.
